TWIN 3 RS

...pure fun, simply shared!

“When work is a pleasure, life is a joy.”
(Quote: Maxim Gorky)

With the TWIN 3 RS, you can share your joy and help your passengers to experience unforgettable moments of happiness!

For a professional tandem pilot, there are few things more fulfilling than flying with one’s own children. Alessio Casolla, our designer, constructor, and passionate tandem pilot, has poured all his joy about the birth of his first son into the development of the TWIN 3 RS. To this end, he named the project after his son “Levante” and set out to develop a tandem paraglider that not only brings fun in the hard-working everyday life of a tandem pilot but also guarantees carefree and unforgettable flying moments, for pilot and passenger, when used for leisure flying too.

The TWIN 3 RS is a brand new design which has excellent launching characteristics even in challenging situations. To facilitate longer tandem flying days without fatigue, the TWIN 3 RS supports you with reduced brake pressure, high flight comfort, and playfully, easy handling. Our proven RAST system, specifically optimised for the specific requirements of tandem flying, gives you as a pilot, maximum control in every situation.

Thanks to the sophisticated canopy curvature, we were able to achieve a particularly harmonious balance between roll damping and handling. This way, you always convey a safe feeling of flight to your passenger, even in turbulent air.

The optimised profile and new form of the canopy allow for a safe landing, with a light and powerful flare. Making the TWIN 3 RS a “well-rounded package” for unforgettable flying experiences.

  • Very coherent and reliable handling
  • Robust and long-lasting design
  • RAST for maximum control in every situation

Buffer Section
Core Section

On paragliders with RAST the canopy is divided into different internal pressurised sections by one or more fabric panels, some with valves running crossways to the direction of flight. This makes it possible to influence the air flows within the canopy.

With RAST, the air equalisation flows within the paraglider canopy can be regulated through defined openings. This applies both when filling,(during take-off) and when emptying. In the case of pressure loss, e.g. caused by canopy collapse in turbulent air, the relative internal pressure of the CORE section increases, while the BUFFER section absorbs the introduced energy by deformation. Furthermore, RAST can be used as an additional support to the leading and trailing edge, which has a positive effect on flight comfort. As RAST connects the ribs over the entire profile height, the construction has a stiffening effect and reinforcements and/or stiffening elements can be saved or even completely replaced by this special construction method.

The RAST system, proven in practice for years, has been specifically adapted for the TWIN 3 RS, to achieve the following characteristics:

Easy launch and take off characteristics. The canopy of the TWIN 3 RS rises evenly and without a tendency to overshoot to the zenith, even in difficult wind conditions all within a few steps, a safe take off follows after a short run.
Enjoyable, secure flying attributes. In the air, pilot and passenger benefit fully from the added safety and the comfortable RAST flying experience.

Nitinol is a high strength, temperature and corrosion resistant, shape-memory alloy. The name Nitinol is an acronym for Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance Laboratory. SWING has long been one of the first paraglider manufacturers to use this material, mainly known for its use in medical technology, as a nose reinforcement in paraglider construction.

For paraglider models where weight reduction is not the top priority, we have inserted the Nitinol reinforcements into nylon tubes. This increases the cross-section – and thus the contact area for the upper sail material – without having to forego the positive properties (resistance to buckling, length and shape stability) of the memory material. This leads to an improvement in the longevity of the glider.

To prevent wear and tear at the exposed areas of the leading edge during landings on hard surfaces, we have sewn a robust cover made of 70g material onto the profile nose of each cell.

These covers are grey in all designs and complement the sporty design of the TWIN 3 RS.

To ensure your TWIN RS remains shape-stable even after many flights, we have reinforced the load-bearing profiles of the canopy centre with a Gibus Arch at the A-level.
The Gibus arches are small Nitinol arches that distribute the high load of the A-level over a large area to the load-bearing profile. The result is less material stretching under high surface load and improved profile fidelity for consistent flight characteristics throughout the entire lifespan.

Additional Ripstop reinforcements on the A and B levels guarantee an even force application from the line loop across the entire profile thickness to the upper sail.

The Riser is one of the links between you and your equipment. With the TWIN 3 RS, we have optimised it for easy handling and good ergonomics.
The riser features an easy-to-use ear folding device, with which the outer A-main lines can be pulled down and locked in a rope clamp.

To release, a light pull is sufficient and the ears are free again. The clamp is secured during takeoff by a neoprene sleeve, which can be quickly and easily pulled up with a tab.

Due to the design of the webbing, we have been able to dispense with the pulley system on the trimmer, allowing for a shorter trimmer tail. The trimmer travel of up to 15 cm can be closed with one pull. A reinforced loop ensures that the trimmer can be closed quickly in any situation and is easy to grab even when wearing thick gloves. An elastic band connected to the carrying strap prevents the trimmer strap from flapping.

  • Fully sheathed lines – for less knot formation
  • Dirt channel at the trailing edge – for fewer foreign bodies in the paraglider canopy
  • Durable material mix (D30 at the leading edge, rest D20) – for a longer lifespan
  • Huge weight range (130-230kg) – for more flexibility
  • White under-sail without design – for your advertising
With the Twin 3 RS, we have deliberately refrained from putting any design on the under-sail. This allows the area to be utilised as an advertising space for your service, your flight school, or sponsors if needed, even retrospectively.
