Skiing off the Aiguille du Midi?
This is where our SWING Speedriders took it to a whole new level this season. And Edgar Pascal just opened a new chapter – becoming the first to speedride the legendary Mallory.

For those who’ve never been – imagine this: in just 20 minutes, you’re lifted from the streets of Chamonix to over 3800 meters, standing on the jagged summit of the Aiguille du Midi. From there, a 36o^view of lines stretches out in every direction—steep, exposed, legendary.

The north face is a surreal mix: serious no-fall terrain right beneath a buzzing tourist cable car. As you drop in, you’re threading technical descents while sightseeing crowds hover overhead. It’s high-alpine ski mountaineering at its rawest—yet just a chairlift away from après.

But for Speedriders, the Aiguille is more than just a nice view.
It’s a Speedriding Big Mountain Playground—most riding routes reserved for experts only.

This is the place where Valentin Delluc and Ugo Gerola take their style and creativity to the next level. It’s where the Cham Speedriding Gang around Thomas Knox, Julien Alloin, and friends ride at the absolute limit—on terrain that demands total commitment and leaves no room for error. The deeper you go, the higher the skill ceiling.

And now, it’s where Edgar Pascal just opened a new chapter – the historic Mallory Route – A Speedriding First on the Mamma Midi Magic Line.

This spring, Edgar Pascal did what few would even dare to imagine: he became the first to speedride the legendary Mallory Route – the iconic “Mamma Midi Magic Line” on the north face of the Aiguille du Midi – flying his Spitfire Classic with precision, confidence, and style.

A line that has long tempted him, Edgar commented:
“Pure ligne qui me fait de l’œil depuis quelques temps.”
(“A pure line that’s been catching my eye for a while.”)

For elite freeriders, the Mallory is already a serious undertaking. This description puts it:
“To open the Mallory requires supreme skill, confidence and solid experience. It remains a game for elite skiers.”

Now imagine shredding that same high-consequence terrain with a wing – in complex, rotor-prone conditions, with zero margin for error. What Edgar pulled off isn’t just technically demanding, it’s visionary.

“It’s truly a pleasure to ride with the Spitfire Classic,” Edgar wrote.
“This wing is a weapon; it’s allowed me to push my limits while keeping a real sense of confidence and control.”

The Mallory-Porter route (rated 5.4) is known for its steep exposure, multiple rope rappels, and unrelenting “no-fall” terrain – all of it directly beneath the cable car, in full view of stunned spectators. Skiing it is rare. Speedriding it has now become a first.

“Being able to ski that line under the wing, and doing it with fluidity, really shocked a lot of people and sparked a lot of talk within the community,” Edgar added.

And he’s just getting started.
May is packed with new speed projects – including one major objective that’s still in the works. Big things ahead, stay tuned.

We’re beyond proud to see the Spitfire Classic fly in terrain like this – and to be part of a moment that redefines what’s possible in the mountains.

Respect, Edgar!
