With the Apus RS in Franz-Josefs-Land

With his Apus RS Lite in his luggage, Alexander Bogdanov followed in the footsteps of the famous Arctic Brusilov sea expedition to the Arctic.
Brusilov, who set off with his crew in 1912 to explore and map a route from the Atlantic to the Pacific via a route known as the “Northeast Passage”, had planned the expedition badly, failed and disappeared without a trace.

As part of the complex expedition “Open Ocean, Arctic Archipelagos 2021”, Bogdanov and his companions visited Franz-Josefs-Land, a group of islands in the Arctic Ocean, with the motor sailboat “AlterEgo” and followed in the footsteps of the failed expedition and the lost schooner “Saint Anna”.

He always had his Apus RS Lite with him every time he went ashore. However, most of the islands there are very difficult to access and the terrain was largely unflyable. In the end, Alexander was lucky enough to fly on one of the islands with ideal soaring conditions and a magnificent view of several hours of airtime and soaring fun. And it seems that this was his most northerly paragliding flight to date!
