UPDATE! Weekly diary, packed with exciting flight stories and adventures that Captain Manicorn aka Jamie, Sandra and Freedom experience and share with us! Enjoy Episode 16On a January 1st 2020, our crew was comprised of 2 humans and 1 dog. But on January 1st 2021, our crew was now comprised of 2 humans and TWO dogs! Our family grew by one when we found a puppy in the forest while camping near a fly site in Albania. We adopted her and named her Journey. On New Year’s Day, at 7 months, we decided to introduce Journey to our world of flying. The easy launch, smooth laminar wind and soft beach landings made for optimal conditions. Our biggest fear was what if she didn’t like it! And what if she figured this it 1000 meters (3000 feet) in the air!Having great equipment also helped put our worried minds at ease. We flew with our Swing Paraglider Nyos RS and Brave 4 harness. PLUS a professional Ruffwear dog harness rated for rappelling with dogs. The duo hooked up and within seconds were soaring in the air. Journey looked around in wonder and after a few minutes, it seemed to dawn on her the magnitude of their height, as she nuzzled her body as close to Jamie as she could. After about 2 minutes of flying, she started to relax and look around, enjoying the scenic Greek seaside, and even offered some tail wags as a sign of her enjoyment. It was a short flight straight from the launch to landing, and after ten minutes, it was time to land. The soft sandy beach was a delightful landing option for Journey, who, as soon as she was unhooked, began dashing around, playfully greeting nearby beach goers. Her excitement on landing made us believe she had enjoyed her flight. But it wasn’t until the next day we realized the extent. The next day when the PG Equipment was pulled out, Journey kept jumping on Jamie’s lap as he geared up, making it very apparent she wanted to go. She still to this day gets EXTREMELY excited when the gear comes out and we look forward to more fun flights with her in the future. ... See MoreSee Less

And what if she figured this it 1000 meters (3000 feet) in the air!

Having great equipment also helped put our worried minds at ease.

UPDATE! Weekly diary, packed with exciting flight stories and adventures that Captain Manicorn aka Jamie, Sandra and Freedom experience and share with us! Enjoy Episode 15The day is December 31st 2020. The day before we found ourselves exploring in Sparta, Greece. After visiting the famous Archaeological site of Mystra and enjoying some traditional Greek gyros, we began to discuss the fact that it was New Year’s Eve and how we wanted to ring in the new year. Wondering if it was flyable anywhere, we checked Paraglidingmap.com and got a glimmer of hope seeing a flyable site near us in the town of Kalamata. (Yes! Like the olive)The problem? It was already 4:30 pm and the site was across a mountain range. We’d have to pass through a gorge then drive up the mountain to try and make it by sundown. It was a mad dash. It was possible that we were doing it for nothing if the winds switched and New Years Day would be a wash. But we decided to go for it! We made it to the launch just as the sun was starting to set and lo-and-behold, the wind was dead in and magical! Jamie quickly got into gear and took off before the sun set and enjoyed a fifteen minute soaring session as the last sun of the year dipped below the horizon. It was officially New Year’s Eve and we were camping in our van at the top of a launch overlook the town. And when midnight hit and we got to watch all of the fireworks blast off all over the city, it was magical. Finally morning came. New Year’s Day. Page one of a new chapter. The day had that new book smell. We geared up, of course opting for our Brave 4 harnesses and Swing Paraglider Nyos RS’s. And like a dream, we took off, barely needing to take a step before lifting off of the ground. The entire flight is what dreams are made of. Smooth laminar winds. Crystal blue water. And soft sandy beach landings. And a cheap $10 taxi back to the top. 😂But the REAL adventure of the day was about to start. You’ll have to check back next week to see what happened. ...
