SAFETY NOTICE Brake line knots SWING paragliders with serial number 7XXXX and year of manufacture between 01.03.2019 and 07.10.2022

We have been informed by our sales partners of a total of four cases in which the knot of the brake handle is said to have come loose. In one case, the brake handle is even said to have come loose from the brake line during take-off, but the pilot was fortunately able to abort the take-off procedure. The cases described involved the Miura RS and Arcus 2 RS models.

The subsequent internal inspection at SWING revealed that further paragliders with brake knots had been produced and delivered without additional safety knots.

Potentially affected are SWING paragliders of the models

MITO, MITO 2 RS, MIURA RS, ARCUS 2 RS, SERAC RS, NYOS RS, NYOS 2 RS, AGERA RS, HELIOS RS, SPHERA RS, TWING RS 2
and STING RS

with serial number 7XXXX, which were delivered in the period from March 01, 2019 up to and including October 07, 2022.

The built-in knot normally tightens under load even without an additional safety knot.

Nevertheless, in cooperation and agreement with the DHV, we have decided to issue the following safety notice for all SWING paragliders that meet the above criteria, in order to minimize the residual risk of a brake knot coming loose:

The knots of the brake handles must be checked during the pre-flight check BEFORE THE NEXT FLIGHT and, if necessary, a safety knot must be added in accordance with the following instructions! This can be done by the pilot himself in a few simple steps.

It is sufficient to pull the brake knot tight and add the missing stop knot (overhand knot) to the loose end of the brake line.

In order to completely rule out errors such as this in the future, the brake knots for all SWING paragliders will be designed as sac-stitch knots at the factory with immediate effect. It is not necessary to retrofit the paragliders with a blind knot in connection with this safety notice.

For over 30 years, SWING has placed the highest value on quality and careful workmanship. Nevertheless, even with the greatest care, technical processing problems cannot always be completely ruled out.
We would like to apologize to our customers for any inconvenience caused by this safety notice.
