MIURA RS
…one glider, two classes!
The best paraglider is whichever one is best suited to the particular pilot.
We have developed the MIURARS for demanding pilots who are looking for a wing with excellent thermal characteristics with which they can perfect their skills over many years. When developing the MIURARS, we were faced with the challenge of building a wing with enough performance to enable ambitious pilots to get into thermal and cross-country flying without sacrificing the necessary feeling of safety and flying comfort of a basic intermediate. After we had tested the first prototypes, we knew that the MIURARS was more than just a simple basic intermediate. Performance and handling reveal B category genes but, with moderate use of the speed system, its behaviour in terms of safety is consistent with that of a glider in the A category. That is why we have decided to certify the MIURARS twice: once as a fully beginner-compatible A glider and additionally as a basic intermediate with the speed advantage of the B class. This is possible by adding or unmounting the speed limiter, which pilots can do themselves in just a few seconds.

Who is the Miura RS for?
Demanding beginners who want to benefit from the performance and handling of an intermediate during training and at the same time do not want to miss out on the passive safety of the A-Class will immediately feel at home on the MIURARS. The balanced damping and optimised RAST system will give you the confidence to climb higher than ever before, even in rough conditions. And on the subject of climbing, even its simple launch behaviour underlines its commitment to transport you with ease into the sky. This makes the MIURARS ideal as your future-proof first paragliding equipment. Pilots coming from a higher EN rating and those who don’t fly very often will also appreciate the glider’s accessible performance.
With 48 cells and its efficient speed system, it offers climb and glide performance that is outstanding in this class, and which will still put a smile on your face even after years. We have also refined its handling so that you will always be in full control of the situation even in turbulent thermals. And if conditions should ever become rougher than was expected, RAST will help you maintain pressure in the canopy.
Paramotor risers
The MIURA RS is also ideal for paramotoring thanks to its reliable take-off characteristics and high stability. We offer optional EN/LTF-certified hybrid risers so that you can go through the complete training to become a paramotor pilot with the Miura RS.
This week was a dream come true! Flying a paramotor over the majestic Cappadocia in Turkey.
I can’t deny it, but I was very nervous before this flight as there were some big challenges to overcome. I’d never flown a paramotor over a snowy landscape before, and I’d never flown so high above sea level.
I thought to myself, stop the anxious talk, because there are only two options anyway: Don’t fly or face your fears! And that’s exactly what I did, I really wanted to fulfill this dream.
I packed up my favorite glider, the Swing Miura RS, with the optional paramotor risers. And before I knew it, I lost my footing and was flying around the towering rock formations and caves of breathtaking Cappadocia.
It was surreal and even more beautiful than I could ever have imagined.
And those moments when a big dream becomes reality are exactly what I live for!
FEATURES
On paragliders with RAST, the inside of the canopy is divided into different (pressure) sections by one or more fabric panels, sometimes with valves at right angles to the direction of flight. This makes it possible to influence the airflow in the canopy. The mode of operation is comparable to a bulkhead, e.g. in tanks.
With RAST, the air equalization flows in the paraglider canopy can be regulated through defined openings. This applies both during inflation (launch) and deflation. In the event of pressure loss, e.g. caused by canopy malfunctions, the relative internal pressure of the CORE section increases, while the BUFFER section absorbs the energy introduced by deformation. Furthermore, RAST can be used as an additional stress level to the leading and trailing edge, which has a positive effect on flight comfort. As RAST connects the ribs over the entire profile height, the construction has a stiffening effect and reinforcements and/or stiffening elements can be saved or even completely replaced by this special construction method.
With the MIURA, RAST has been optimized for the following properties:
- Particularly easy and even inflation behavior with no tendency to overshoot and no tendency to lever out. The MIURA RS literally “parks” above the pilot
- Maximum flight smoothness and control even for less experienced pilots in turbulent air.
The accelerator travel can be limited in just a few simple steps, making the MIURA RS a fully training-ready A-glider. After training, you can just as easily remove the speed limiter and enjoy the performance advantages of the B-Class. Professional pulleys with ball bearing improve even the longest gliding passages.
Nitinol is a high strength, temperature and corrosion resistant shape memory alloy. The name Nitinol is an acronym for Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance Laboratory. SWING is one of the first paraglider manufacturers to use the material known from medical technology as nose reinforcement in paraglider construction.
In the MIURA RS, the Nitinol reinforcements are inserted into nylon tubes. This increases the cross-section – and therefore the contact surface for the topsail material – without having to sacrifice the positive properties (kink resistance, length and dimensional stability) of the memory material. The leading edge is thus less sensitive to premature wear and remains dimensionally stable in the long term.
Ballooning at the trailing edge has a significant influence on the performance, control pressure and handling of the glider. Miniribs halve the cell spacing in this area and thus reduce ballooning for a homogeneous trailing edge.
The highlight:
The seams of the miniribs run on the inside of the upper sail so that no sewing threads can get caught on the ground and pulled out, even when launching on unfavorable ground.
The targeted control of tension through 3D shaping at the leading edge of the upper sail is now standard in paraglider construction in order to make the flow-relevant areas as wrinkle-free as possible. Depending on the model, the 3D shaping is either single or double.
We have supplemented the standard 3D shaping with an additional 3D shaping at the trailing edge to optimize the aerodynamic effect of the miniribs.
To ensure that the lines can be sorted easily and to keep the riser as clear as possible, all line galleries from the sail are combined on just three riser levels.
An intelligent line mix made from the latest materials guarantees durability and length stability with minimal drag.
The attachment loops are color-coded to avoid mistakes when attaching them. This allows you to see at a glance whether the risers are correctly attached to the harness.
