Who is the MITO for?
The MITO is the result of a combination of innovative ideas, modern technologies and solid development work, based on decades of experience in paraglider construction. The goal: to build a paraglider that beginners and less experienced pilots can rely on 100% and that offers a lot of flying fun without being too demanding.
FEATURES
On paragliders with RAST the canopy is divided into different internal pressurised sections by one or more fabric panels, some with valves running crossways to the direction of flight. This makes it possible to influence the air flows within the canopy.
With RAST, the air equalisation flows within the paraglider canopy can be regulated through defined openings. This applies both when filling,(during take-off) and when emptying. In the case of pressure loss, e.g. caused by canopy collapse in turbulent air, the relative internal pressure of the CORE section increases, while the BUFFER section absorbs the introduced energy by deformation. Furthermore, RAST can be used as an additional support to the leading and trailing edge, which has a positive effect on flight comfort. As RAST connects the ribs over the entire profile height, the construction has a stiffening effect and reinforcements and/or stiffening elements can be saved or even completely replaced by this special construction method.
In the MITO, RAST has been optimised to achieve the following characteristic:
- Particularly easy and even wind-up behaviour with no tendency to overshoot or to lever out during launch. The MITO literally “parks” above the pilot.
- Maximum flight stability and control even for less experienced pilots in turbulent air.
Ballooning on the trailing edge has a considerable influence on a paraglider’s control pressure and handling. That’s why, with the MITO, ballooning in this area was reduced to a minimum using 3D shaping, in addition to the tried and tested mini ribs. The trick here is that the mini ribs have internal stitching on the top surface so that none of the threads can get caught up on the ground and pulled out, even when launching in difficult terrain.
The targeted control of tension by 3D shaping at the leading edge of the upper sail has become standard in paraglider construction. This is in order to make the airflow-relevant areas as crease-free as possible. Depending on the model, 3D shaping is either single or double in its construction.
We have supplemented the standard shaping with another 3D shaping at the leading edge to optimise the aerodynamic effect of the miniribs.
To ensure ease of organisation of the lines and to keep the riser as clear as possible, all line galleries from the sail are combined on only three riser levels.
An intelligent line mix of state-of-the-art materials guarantees durability and length stability with minimal drag.
To avoid mistakes when attaching the harness, the attachment loops are colour-coded. This means you can see at a glance whether the risers are correctly attached to the harness.

Takeoff: Matrei Goldried – AT – Austria Distance: FAI Triangle – 148.5 km (28.0 km/h) der Flug auf dhv-xc.de/Alle, die der Meinung waren, der MITO sei ein reiner Schulschirm, hat Torsten Hahne mit seinem knapp 150km FAI-Dreieck am Mittwoch, den 22.06.2016 eines Besseren belehrt.
Dabei reichte sein Flug (trotz limitiertem Beschleunigerweg im Schulmodus) abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade bekannter Routen als bester Flug in der Standardklasse zu Platz 7 in der Tageswertung im DHV-XC (Stand 23.06.). In seinem Kommentar schreibt Torsten:
Mal was anderes mit dem Low A Mito. Genialer Schirm. Von der Schulung bis zum XC ein sicherer Begleiter :-) Das RAST System funktioniert einwandfrei.Das Dreieck ist variierbar und ausbaufähig. Landschaftlich ein Traum. Etwas knifflig im hinteren Villgraten bei doch recht kräftigem Nordwind.
Sehr einfacher Start, auch bei Rückenwind, Handling gut, sehr einfaches Ohrenanlegen, einfache und gut kontrollierbare Steilspiraleneinleitung!
Gaudi pur! Der MITO geht sauber rum ums Eck, entspanntes Fliegen und echter Wingover-Spaß!
Gerade war ich zwei Wochen zum Fliegen in Südtirol und konnte dabei endlich meinen neuen Mito ausprobieren, den ich mir im Oktober gekauft und bislang nur 2x an der Winde gestartet hatte.Jetzt konnte ich endlich Thermik fliegen und bin total begeistert. Ich bin auch im 9. Flugjahr immer noch von der vorsichtigen Truppe und hatte lange nach einem zuverlässigen Schirm Ausschau gehalten, der gleichzeitig keine Gurke ist. Auf Swing bin ich so schnell gar nicht gekommen, weil ich Euch eher im anspruchsvollen Segment gesehen hatte, das Rast-System aber zur Kenntnis genommen.
Der Mito passt sehr gut zu mir und hat mich auch im turbulenten Talwind sicher begleitet. Das Einzige wäre, dass von mir aus jedes Stück Leine ummantelt sein dürfte, damit sie sich nicht so verhaken. Ich liebe den Mito. Hinzu kommt noch, dass ich mir passend dazu das neue Reverse 3-Gurtzeug gegönnt habe, was beim Bergwandern die absolute Erleichterung ist. Ich bin begeistert.
Ich konnte RAST testen und hatte bei seitlichen Klappern und Frontklappern keinerlei Bedenken! Toller Schirm! Bin gespannt, was da noch nach kommt mit RAST!
