Who is the MITO for?

The MITO is the result of a combination of innovative ideas, modern technologies and solid development work, based on decades of experience in paraglider construction. The goal: to build a paraglider that beginners and less experienced pilots can rely on 100% and that offers a lot of flying fun without being too demanding.

RAST

On paragliders with RAST, the inside of the canopy is divided into different (pressure) sections by one or more fabric panels, sometimes with valves at right angles to the direction of flight. This makes it possible to influence the airflow in the canopy. The mode of operation is comparable to a bulkhead, e.g. in tanks.

With RAST, the air equalization flows in the paraglider canopy can be regulated through defined openings. This applies both during inflation (launch) and deflation. In the event of pressure loss, e.g. caused by canopy malfunctions, the relative internal pressure of the CORE section increases, while the BUFFER section absorbs the energy introduced by deformation. Furthermore, RAST can be used as an additional stress level to the leading and trailing edge, which has a positive effect on flight comfort. As RAST connects the ribs over the entire profile height, the construction has a stiffening effect and reinforcements and/or stiffening elements can be saved or even completely replaced by this special construction method.

With the MITO, RAST has been optimized for the following properties:

  • Particularly easy and even inflation behavior with no tendency to overshoot and no tendency to lever out. The MITO literally “parks” above the pilot
  • Maximum flight smoothness and control even for less experienced pilots in turbulent air.

Ballooning at the trailing edge has a significant influence on the performance, control pressure and handling of the glider. Miniribs halve the cell spacing in this area and thus reduce ballooning for a homogeneous trailing edge.

The highlight:
The seams of the miniribs run on the inside of the upper sail so that no sewing threads can get caught on the ground and pulled out, even when launching on unfavorable ground.

The targeted control of tension through 3D shaping at the leading edge of the upper sail is now standard in paraglider construction in order to make the flow-relevant areas as wrinkle-free as possible. Depending on the model, the 3D shaping is either single or double.

We have supplemented the standard 3D shaping with an additional 3D shaping at the trailing edge to optimize the aerodynamic effect of the miniribs.

Mito

To ensure that the lines can be sorted easily and to keep the riser as clear as possible, all line galleries from the sail are combined on just three riser levels.
An intelligent line mix made from the latest materials guarantees durability and length stability with minimal drag.

The attachment loops are color-coded to avoid mistakes when attaching them. This allows you to see at a glance whether the risers are correctly attached to the harness.

I’ve just spent two weeks flying in South Tyrol and was finally able to try out my new Mito, which I bought in October and had only launched twice on the winch so far.

Now I’ve finally been able to fly thermals and I’m totally thrilled. Even in my 9th year of flying, I’m still a cautious pilot and had been looking for a reliable wing that wasn’t a cucumber. I didn’t come across Swing so quickly because I had seen you more in the demanding segment, but I did take note of the Rast system.

The Mito suits me very well and has accompanied me safely even in turbulent valley winds. The only thing would be that I would like every piece of leash to be sheathed so that they don’t get so tangled up. I love the Mito. I also bought the new Reverse 3 harness to go with it, which is an absolute relief when hiking in the mountains. I am thrilled.

Dietmar (Didi) Siglbauer proved everyone who thought the MITO was just a school glider wrong with his almost 150km FAI triangle on Wednesday, 22.06.2016.

His flight (despite limited accelerator travel in school mode) off the beaten track of known routes was the best flight in the standard class and was good enough for 7th place in the daily DHV-XC ranking (as of 23.06.). Torsten writes in his commentary:

Something different with the Low A Mito. Ingenious wing. A safe companion from training to XC :-) The RAST system works perfectly and the triangle is variable and expandable. The landscape is a dream. A bit tricky in the rear Villgraten with quite a strong north wind.
